An Ode to Hip Hop, at one point in our lives we all fell in love with a certain type of genre of music. Today, the good people at Thehiphopchronicle.com x Ynotmydream.net & www.illvibes.com help me launch this mini series entitled "Sumthin' like 96." This project was a personal reminder for me and validated the reason why I pursue this music career. I hope you enjoy the classics that I chose to have fun it and bring back to life for us to listen to. Expect a freestyle everyday this week, 5 days, 5 classics, 5 freestyles. Lets get into it....

Kanye West has Caught up to Nicki ...He's Platinum!!!!!!
Kanye West's latest album has gone platinum in the United States, sparking a flurry of new headlines.
Released late last year, 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' finally provedKanye West to be the genius he always believed he was. A stunning album, it bowled over critics and smashed its way into the charts.
According to the latest figures the new album has turned Platinum in the United States. Opening up his Twitter feed, Kanye West thanked fans for supporting him and making the album a success.
"THANK YOU EVERYBODY FOR MAKING MY BEAUTIFUL DARK TWISTED FANTASY OFFICIALLY PLATINUM!!!"
Focussing on his solo career, Kanye West recently dropped a collaboration with Jay-Z. 'H.A.M.' was a pulsating slice of hip hop, which saw two of the world's most iconic rappers trading verses.
Yet even this was not able to claim the number one slot. Beaten by Britney Spears, Kanye West joked about lagging behind the pop singer. Media reports in the United States quickly escalated this into a social networking war.
"Just saw that MSNBC said I tried to start a twitter war with Brittany" he sighed. "This shit takes the air out my lungs sometimes from blogs to news reports... enough already!!! All I do is focus on my work."
Later the exasperated rapper wrote: "There's a new lie everyday... a new media spin... I never got a watch with my face on it!!! A company tried to give that to me 9 yrs ago!"
"I'm one of the most considerate people in real life. Maybe over considerate. Over caring. Overly real."
Finally Kanye West gave some advise to journalists across the world. "If the media wants to make a story ... just say I have atrocious spelling and terrible grammar..."

A 7-year-old Wyomissing boy was coming home from school to an empty apartment and spending nights alone while his mother worked in Philadelphia, borough police said Friday.
The boy told police that he would get off the bus most days and wait for someone to leave or enter the gated parking garage under the apartment complex in the 100 block of North Park Road so he could get into the building, police said.
His mother, Andraya M. Howard, 25, would leave the apartment door unlocked and microwave dinners in the freezer for him, they said.
Police arrested Howard at the apartment Thursday night on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child.
She remained free on $25,000 bail after arraignment before District Judge Ann L. Young in Reading Central Court.
According to court records:
A policeman found the boy alone in a disheveled apartment Dec. 16 about 2 a.m. after the boy called 9-1-1 and told dispatchers he was home alone.
He told Patrolman Kevin M. Quinter that he called his mother's cell phone about 20 times to find out where she was. He last spoke to her when he called her after getting off the bus. She said she was at a tanning salon and would be home soon.
The apartment looked like it had been ransacked, with women's undergarments scattered throughout the living room. A small dog was in a cage, and dog feces and dog urine were in several places in the apartment.
While Quinter talked to the boy, the youth got a TV dinner from the freezer, stood on the counter and put it into the microwave.
Police called the boy's grandmother, who took him home.
She said she had been watching her grandson while Howard went to her job overnight in Philadelphia, but she had not been baby-sitting the boy for a few months.
Howard, who said she worked as a model, returned home about 8:45 a.m. and police told her that her son was in the care of the county Children and Youth Services while they investigated.
Police did not know the status of the child Friday.
They charged Howard on Dec. 30, but did not immediately arrest her because she agreed to surrender to sheriff's deputies.
When she didn't, police went to the apartment and arrested her.

BET's "The Game" Private Screening at K Street Lounge
Last night I attended a private screening of BET's "The Game," with Jess. She invited me to go the event with her. This is her story from her blog www.SimplyMe328.blogspot.com because 90% of the pics are from her camera (lol) ENJOY!!!!!
With the brand new season only a week away, The Game is back and in full force. I was chosen among many others to attend a private screening at K Street Lounge in D.C. last night and it was absolutely amazing, stars of the show Wendy Raquel Robinson and 106th and Park's own Terrence J were in attendance, (Terrence is now apart of the cast as Tasha Mack's Love Interest) While the other cast members were in Chicago and Atlanta. I captured some footage before and after the screening, they touched on the season, how happy they were that the show was back and some words of enouragement for the cheering audience.Check those out as well as some pictures!
Im so glad this show is back, there aren't many African Americans on the air as is so when the CW decided to cancel, i think everyone thought all hope was lost, but BET finally got some sense (Thank God) and rescued my show, and the premiere episode is CRAZY, whatever you think is going to happen..happens x1000. I have to add that Terrence J is quite the actor, I hope to see more of him throughout the season as well as more films/TV Roles. BTW: Terrence has a film coming out called "The Heart Specialist" which is in theaters January 14.
