Judge Lifts Rihanna's Restraining Order Against Chris Brown - Movies, TV & Music - UsMagazine.com
Two years after Chris Brown assaulted his then-girlfriendRihanna, an L.A. judge decided to give the R&B superstar a second chance.
During a court hearing in L.A. Tuesday, a judge replaced Rihanna's previous restraining order with a level one order, meaning that the exes can have contact provided Brown, 21, does not harass, annoy or molest the "S&M" singer.
According to TMZ, Rihanna, 23, did not appear in court, though her attorney Donald Etra did. He informed the judge that Rihanna has no objections to the new order.
In August 2009, L.A. Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg put a five-year restraining order in effect, which required Brown to stay at least 50 yards away from Rihanna (real name: Robyn Fenty). If the two planned to attend the same industry event, the proximity was reduced to 10 yards.
As part of the same ruling, the "Yeah 3X" singer was required to serve five years probation and to spend more than 1,400 hours in "labor-oriented service." Brown completed his court-mandated domestic violence classes in December 2010.

Fantasia Boycotted The Grammys Over Aretha Franklin Tribute
For those who tuned in to Fantasia’s reality show last season, one of her main goals was to produce an album that would finally win a Grammy. After being nominated 11 times in the past, Sunday was Fantasia’s “Moment For Life” as she won the “Best Female Vocal Performance” award for her single Bittersweet…however, Fantasia was nowhere to be found. Instead, she opted to stay home and boycott the show because she wasn’t invited to do the Aretha Franklin
Tribute.
Yesterday, she called up to BET’s 106 and Park and revealed to Rocsi and Terrence that she felt some kind of way about the Awards Show:
I’m going to be very honest with you. You know I wasnt at the Grammys last night, I’m kind of going through my own little thing…last night they were honoring someone who is my idol, Aretha Franklin, and there is no way I could have sat there and not got the happy feet and wanting to jump on the mic because she is my favorite so I felt like, you know, at the end of the day I should have been on that stage so, I kind of did my own little thing last night.
I watched Cee-lo’s performance, I love Cee lo, love Gaga, watched Gaga, and I love Rihannas performance, but I kind of cooked and did my own think last night and was in my own world and was hoping that I won. I have this feeling, like every year I go, I feel like they always look over some of the good singers that are still around and I’m not trying to be funny but thats just the way I felt, so I didnt go into it like I usually do, I wan’t there, so you know I caught some performances, Cee Lo was one of my favorites I love Love love .
When asked what her reaction was when she found out she won, she responded:
Actually I scared my daughter because I just bust out and started crying, and she thought something was wrong with me. You know it’s been a long time coming T, you know at the end of the day its been a long time coming for me and I have been through a lot of things so when Brian called me (my manager accepted the award for me), I just bust out started crying because I felt like eh man, I wasn’t gonna stop until I got one and I’m still not going to stop and you know this has just given me motivation to do my own thing so I just started crying and just thanking God that finally, eleven times nominated, finally I got one.

Born in Portland, OR in 1984, Spalding was not well served by the public school system and soon dropped out of classes to be home schooled. Returning to the public school system at 15, she encountered her first acoustic bass (she had already been playing violin for several years) and immediately took to the instrument. Dropping out of school again, Spalding enrolled in classes at Portland State University as a 16-year-old, and earned her B.A. in just three years and was immediately hired as an instructor in the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston in the spring of 2005. After touring and playing with a whole host of artists, including Joe Lovano, Patti Austin, Michel Camilo, Charlie Haden, Regina Carter, Pat Metheny, Dave Samuels, and a host of others, in addition to heading her own jazz trio, Spalding recorded and released Junjo on the Barcelona-based AYVA imprint in 2006, following it with the simply named Esperanza on Heads Up Records in 2008 that scored big with critics and listeners alike. The album topped Billboard's contemporary jazz chart and remiained on it for over 70 weeks. In addition, it became the best selling album by a new jazz artist internationally during 2008. Rihanna Agrees to Lift Restraining Order Against Chris Brown
Just in time for Grammy weekend and NBA All Star Weekend in LA, Rihanna has reportedly agreed to have the restraining order that is currently in place against ex-boyfriend and singer Chris Brown, lifted. Kind of.
According to E! Online, Rihanna and her lawyer, Donald Etra, requested that the restraining order be taken down to a level one which would allow the two to contact and see each other only if Chris doesn’t “annoy, molest, or harass” her. Ri, Chris, and their lawyers have all agreed and approved of this change, but they still need a judge to sign off on it before the ex-lovers can have any contact ….or plan lunch dates.
What’s weird about the situation is that when Chris initially appeared before the judge on January 28th, his lawyer made the request because it was interfering with him being able to attend award shows, however it has since been reported that he won’t be attending theGrammys due to a prior commitment. What’s more important than the Grammys during a comeback year?
The two will possibly face each other or be in the same space next weekend as they are both scheduled to attend NBA All Star festivities in LA.

Activision Drops Next Guitar Hero Game
(Updated 4:20 PM) Activision/Blizzard announced it is dropping the in-development Guitar Hero game planned for 2011. The company is also disbanding its Guitar Hero division, best described by the company itself in the following statement:
“Due to continued declines in the music genre, the company will disband Activision Publishing’s Guitar Hero business unit and discontinue development on its Guitar Hero game for 2011."
Activision was clear that there would be no music games from the company this fiscal year. That means no Guitar Hero, and no DJ Hero. During the investment call, the company also said it plans to lay off approximately 500 employees. But does this mean the franchise is truly dead, or will we see a newly re-vamped game in 2012 or 2013? According to Wedbush Securities' analyst Michael Pachter, a return of the Guitar Hero franchise is unlikely in the near future.
"I don't think it's going to be revamped," Pachter said. "It would only happen if there's a whole new console refresh, but if it's an Xbox 360 with a two-terabyte hard-drive and an 802.11 N, who cares? You don't need a new Guitar Hero for that. I think Guitar Hero is one of those things you don't need to buy more than once."
I've contacted Activision about this, but as yet, haven't heard back from the company on an official basis, but this blog post from Activision's Dan Amrich takes a different tact from Pachter's:
"For a while there I couldn’t drown out the cries of gamers on forums, blogs, and Twitter saying GH should take some time off, and from all appearances, that’s what this is. Step back, let it breathe for a while, don’t make any major plans, and see what happens in the future. I’m very okay with that.

In documents filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Simpson cites "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the divorce.
She's asking for joint legal custody and primary physical custody of two-year-old Bronx.

Even the Black Eyed Peas are protecting their Super Bowl playbook.
"We're not allowed to give away the set list, but it will be packed with energy - what the Black Eyed Peas bring," said band member Fergie at a news conference Thursday.
The band said they are excited and honored to give the halftime performance during Sunday's game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers.
"We want everybody to have a good time and just dance, party," will.i.amsaid about the performance that's expected to include R&B star Usherand former Guns 'N Roses guitarist Slash.
A person familiar with the plans for Sunday's halftime show told The Associated Press that both musicians were slated to make surprise appearances. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity Wednesday, because the musicians' performances were not going to be announced.
"Hopefully we will bring the heat because it's cold as hell here in Dallas," said Black Eyed Peas band member Taboo. The band spoke at a news conference in downtown Dallas on the third consecutive day of subfreezing temperatures during a rare cold spell that greeted the first Super Bowl week in North Texas.
Taboo said the opportunity to provide entertainment for the NFL's ultimate game is "a dream come true for us as football lovers." Fellow band member, Fergie, said it was a "huge honor" to be picked as halftime performer.
"Sunday football is a serious day in our homes," said Fergie, who is a minority owner of the Miami Dolphins. "Super Bowl Sunday is the day that I can go all out - cheat - eat the seven-layer dip, all the Italian food and scream at everybody."
